First of all...thank you for taking the time to look around the Somamemphis.org website! We hope you like what you see as we feel God is blessing this community! The blog you a reading is designed to give some insight into the life and heart of people called to minister to and along side college students. You might read about experiences within the ministry, specific prayers for college students, revelation of spiritual or scriptural meaning through this work, ways we have gown while working in this ministry and maybe even a few lessons on how to reach out to college students.
I can speak for my wife and myself when I say that our lives were changed by the Christian Student Center Ministry at The University of Memphis. It is not only where we met, but where we made lifelong friendships that are rooted very deeply in our faith. We, as supporters of this ministry, can dramatically change the lives of the students we work with in this ministry by not just serving them a meal, or saying hello, but by getting to know who they are...and letting them see who we are...the real them...and the real us! When we minister to and with students, we invite them into our home and into our lives. We want them to see the ways we worship, pray and study...but more importantly the ways we play, work, fight and love each other in everyday life.
My prayer for my fellow supporters is that you will take on a similar calling to work with the college age people of Soma. Get to know one, two or a few really well and share your life with them. I promise, you will be blessed!
